Technical Writing for Engineers
This was the center’s first completely online, 4-week, asynchronous course designed for incoming international students to CU Boulder’s Interdisciplinary Telecom Program (ITP) and Engineering Management Program (EMP). I worked collaboratively in a three-faculty team to design and develop the course.
Role: While the team worked collaboratively to design and develop the syllabus, course description, objectives, goals, instructional strategies, original content, deliverables, and online framework, we each specialized in certain areas.
- Built project management spreadsheets and scheduled timelines
- Established aesthetic design standards, style guide (fonts, formatting, brand coloring). Created document and slide deck templates. Customized D2L interface
- Oversaw curriculum scope and sequencing and implemented module structure and widgets in D2L
- Monitored media integration
- Created lecture storyboard, script, and slide deck. Edited post-production video
- Developed discussion board post topics, content and resource handouts, assignments, and supplemental videos.
- Reviewed collaborators’ instructional materials
- Co-taught the course with designated feedback assignments
- Analyzed and recommended improvements
- Co-presented at CoTESOL 2016
- First author on article published in the center’s journal
